Why is it significant that when Mary arrived with Jesus in her womb, the unborn John the Baptist leaped in the womb of his mother Elizabeth?
Elizabeth was well beyond her child-bearing years. To become pregnant a miracle was needed, and God brought about this miracle. The baby John the Baptist was the product of that miracle. I think that when Mary arrived, John could sense another miracle birth within her womb. Both John and Jesus were hand picked by God, and shared that special union. John was to foretell of the coming messiah, and even in the womb, he did so by leaping for joy.

Mary Visits Elizabeth
Mary arrived at Elizabeth`s house and She greeted Elizabeth. When the voice of Mary`s greeting came into Elizabeth`s ears, the baby ''John the Baptist'' leaped in her womb for joy. All these happened because it has to be fulfilled as per the word of God.

The wonderful part is theat the Holy spirit in with the unborn baby and that the joy of God`s promise is the coming of Christ and the joy of Mary`s visit is the joy to unborn John the Baptist.

Mary Visits Elizabeth

Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy! Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!"

Luke 1:39-45
