Peter fell when he was not focused and did not believe fully in Jesus, without any doubts. Peter became distracted with troubling earthly events ''strong winds'', lost trust and did not have full faith in Jesus.

because he took his eyes off of Jesus. when we take our eyes off of the Lord in our lives we sink and loose sight of him and we can not continue. If we keep our eyes on the Lord the we can move forward and grow in him.It is wrong to be afraid when we are not trusting Jesus. Everyone is afraid sometimes and thats ok but when u are not trusting God then u have to make sure you look to him to help you get things right. As soon as fear entered Peter, his faith diminished. If you`re faith is strong enough, you will not have any fear, and therefore, you can trust and have faith that your Heavenly Father will always do what is best. Fear is a destroyer of faith. The Bible says to fear God...I just don`t like that word. Fear to me is negativity. Reverence the Lord, I like much better. To me fear is the work of the devil. By revering God, and having faith in all He does, brings you so much closer to Him, and allows you to move mountains, so to speak. Immediately Jesus
made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other
side, while he sent the multitudes away. After he had sent the multitudes
away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had
come, he was there alone. But the boat was now in the
middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
In the
fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw
him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a
ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to
them, saying "Cheer up! I AM!
Don't be afraid." Peter answered him
and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the
waters."
He said, "Come!" Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to
Jesus. But when he saw
that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried
out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately Jesus
stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
When they got up into
the boat, the wind ceased. Those who were in the boat came
and worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God!"
When they had crossed
over, they came to the land of Gennesaret. When the people of that place
recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to
him all who were sick, and they begged him that they
might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were
made whole.
